This Year's Ride

October 1, 2011

What: This is a charity motorcycle ride to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event location will have food, music, a silent auction, raffle, and guest celebrities. The ride itself will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes, with a 15 minute break in the middle where riders will be offered refreshments and snacks. Sign-in starts at 9:00 AM and the first group's kickstands will go up around 10:15. For more information scroll down to read the history of BERBA.

Where: The great people of MetroED are very excited to hold the event for the 2nd year at Central County Occupational Center (CCOC) located at 760 Hillsdale Ave, San Jose, CA 95136. The school is located just off of highway 87 and Capitol Expressway.

Who: Our goal is to gather 100 motivated riders to participate and raise money for this event. We are limiting the number of participants in order to ensure a great experience for everyone. In addition, we invite anyone to come out and spend some time at the event location between 9:30AM and 3:00PM. Broc Glover and 2007 Daytona 200 winner Steve Rapp have confirmed their attendance! Last year Brad Lackey showed up as well! Rapp has supported this cause for the last four years and will be making a special trip this year to join us in our efforts to fight CF. We also anticipate other legends of road motorcycle racing, So come out and ride with these guys. They would love to see you out there!

Last year we teamed up with the South Bay office of the CF Foundation. The local chapter was a great help in ensuring a quality event. We worked with a great group of sponsors and collected many great raffle and auction items totaling tens of thousands of dollars! We were able to learn a lot from last year's event and we are committed to making this one even better. Our goal is to have more riders attend (we had about sixty last year), even more raffle/auction prizes, and raise at least $25,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This isn't an easy task, but I have faith that the many generous people and companies that helped out last year will come through again.

If you would like to receive updates on the 2011 BERBA, follow us on Facebook or contact me and I'll be sure to keep you informed as things develop. Also check back here because I will be updating the info as the event draws near.

The BERBA History:

In late January of 2009 I introduced myself to one of the legends of motocross, Broc Glover. Broc has a nine year old son, Dayne, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in 2008. Over the last few years Broc has sacrificed a great amount of time and energy to organize the Broc Glover's Breathe Easy Ride Against Cystic Fibrosis in southern California. The events are a great success. (To learn more about them, click on the Breathe Easy Ride Homepage link at the top of the page.) I also have to deal with the affects of Cystic Fibrosis every day. I told Broc that I was interested in hosting a satellite ride in the Bay Area and two months later held the Inaugural Breathe Easy Ride - Bay Area (BERBA).

With the help of many friends, family, and sponsors, we were able to put together a successful event that was both fun and able to raise money and awareness to fight Cystic Fibrosis. A few of the people that attended the ride wrote feedback letters and I have decided to post them on this site. If you would like to read them and/or post your own feedback you will be able to do so by clicking on the links to the top left.

I hope you take the time to learn more about Cystic Fibrosis and how it affects the lives of over 70,000 people worldwide and 30,000 people in the United States. In addition, if you'd like to know more about me and how to contact me, this is the place to do it. Just click on the appropriate links on the top left.

Thanks again for taking the time to check out this site. Be safe on the road. I hope to see you out there and I would love to see you at this year's ride.
